Just in time for World Oceans Day, which was proclaimed by the United Nations on 8 June, we packed our bags and travelled to Oberhausen (Germany) with a small team of employees and volunteers. To Oberhausen? Yes, exactly, to the centre of the Ruhr area. It’s because the “Planet Ocean“ exhibition has just opened in the impressive industrial momument, Gasometer, and attracts marine enthusiasts from far beyond the city limits until the end of the year. We were happy to accept the invitation to participate in the World Oceans event over there with a small stand.

Fun and games at the Turtle Foundation stand

Therefore, three colleagues from Cologne-based Turtle Foundation headquarters spent the day in Oberhausen with a few flyers, quiz questions, and our play mat. While we were there until the early evening, we played countless rounds of quiz on our “rope and ladder” play mat, which we had already tried at the exhibition “boot“. We also had interesting conversations with children and adults and were certainly able to win over one or two new supporters.
