Turtle watching
the right way!
the right way!
Have you spotted a sea turtle on the beach and want to observe her nesting? An unforgettable experience! To make sure you don’t disturb the turtle, please follow these simple but very important rules:
No light on turtles!
- Never use white light – no flashlights or phone lights!
- Also no “red light” from a phone screen – this also disturbs turtles.
- Only special certified red-light headlamps are allowed, and even these must never be pointed directly at a turtle.
- Why? If a turtle is exposed to light, she may abandon the nesting process and return to the sea. In the worst case, she might lay her eggs in the water = no reproduction.
No flash, no photos, no selfies!
- Never take photos with flash!
- Turtle nesting sites are not photo spots – they are places that need protection.
- Better: Watch quietly and enjoy the moment. You’ll never forget it.
Keep your distance!
- Stay at least 2 meters away!
- Never approach from the front – only from behind.
- Never touch or block a turtle.
- Don’t interfere, even if the turtle seems “helpless” – she knows what she’s doing.
Other important notes
- Our camp is not open to the public – please respect this and do not enter!
- The hatchery must never be entered under any circumstances – please follow the signs.
- Again: no lights here either.
- Never drive quads, motorbikes, or cars on the beach – they destroys the nests!
