Turtle Foundation and SOS Seaturtles congratulate all winners of the lottery "Operation Loggerhead" and wish an unforgettably beautiful stay and GOOD DIVING in Indonesia, be it on the magnificent Pindito or be it in one of the wonderful Resorts in Bali respectively Manado!
A big THANK YOU to all of those, who have supported this action with the purchase of one or several lottery tickets. Only because of YOU it has been possible that a nice idea becomes a successful event in favour of the Loggerhead turtles of Cape Verde!
Many Thanks!
THANK YOU!
At this point we would like to espress our deep gratitude to our generous sponsors PINDITO and SCHÖNER TAUCHEN, but also to the Alam Batu Resort in Bali and the Minahasa Lagoon Resort in Manado! Without the wonderful support of Robi und Edi Frommenwiler (picture: Edi to the left of Frank Zindel and Robi to the right) from PINDITO / SCHÖNER TAUCHEN an their great team this successful action would not have been possible! It was a great pleasure to work with them at all times! The spontaneous contribution of Doris Vierkotter from the Alam Batu Resort and from Daniel Byland from the Minahasa Lagoon Resort to the Operation Loggerhead lottery made us even more happy!
We from Turtle Foundation and SOS Seaturtles would like to express our deep thankfulness to all of them for their wonderful and highly appreaciated support of our conservation work!
ABOUT THE LOTTERY
Edi and Robi Frommenwiler (the owners of the MV Pindito) are helping to support „OPERATION LOGGERHEAD“, a joint effort of the Turtle Foundation and SOS Seaturtles, founded by the famous underwater photographer Kurt Amsler. “OPERATION LOGGERHEAD” is an important sea turtle conservation program, run by Turtle Foundation, on the Cape Verde Islands in West Africa
Edi and Robi Frommenwiler have generously donated a dive trip of 12 days on the beautiful MV Pindito to support "OPERATION LOGGERHEAD".
By purchasing a lottery ticket for USD 100.00 / EUR 70.00 interested people had gotten the chance to win this
great dive trip in Indonesian waters worth USD 4,290.00 / EUR 2,750.00 (flights not included). THE NUMBER OF LOTTERY TICKETS ISSUED WAS LIMITED TO 100 ONLY!
100% of the proceeds from the sale of the lottery tickets will be used for the “OPERATION LOGGERHEAD“. This protection program on Cape Verde prevents the brutal killing of sea turtles when they come ashore to nest by operating a beach surveillance program at night. Without these patrols, poachers waiting on the beach slaughter the turtles as they come ashore to lay their eggs. The turtles are killed while still alive, and often before they have had a chance to nest, killing all their progeny as well. On beaches where our patrols take place, the killing has been reduced by 90%. The survival of Cape Verde’s turtles depends on our protection.
