Shocking reports from Cape Verde were confirmed

When the Turtle Foundation received reports that mother turtles were being slaughtered in great numbers on the beaches of Cape Verde Dr. Hiltrud Cordes (member of the board of Turtle Foundation) together with Siegfried Weisel (biologist and conversationist) travelled to the islands Boavista and Sal to verify the reports.

Unfortunately the shocking information turned out to be true. In fact many beaches on these islands were covered with sea turtle corpses.

Therefore the Turtle Foundation is desperate to set-up a beach protection programm at one of the most frequented beaches for the next nesting season starting in June 2008. However, this project will mostly depend on sufficient funds being available.
