Turtle Foundation, with the help and participating of a dedicated volunteer team, will be organizing a get together party in London, on the 5th of December 2009, in a venue to be confirmed.
This event, initially organized by the volunteers as an opportunity to share stories from 2009 season, will also have the purpose to raise funds for our project in Boa Esperança beach in Boavista (see picture on the right), currently unprotected, and where most killings were reported this season.
We hope to be able to designate this beach as an educational centre for tourists and locals, and will include beach signs, an information zone and a hatchery. Located only 20 minutes away from Sal Rei, not only is a poaching hotspot, but also a great opportunity to bring people closer to the turtles and give them the opportunity to participate more actively in their protection.
At the London event, we will auction the adoption of adult turtles, hatchlings, or beach, so it’s a great opportunity to help, donate or contact former volunteers and the staff for more information if you are interested in participating in the future. Also we will have projection of videos and photos from 2009 season.
If you would like to participate, please add your name to the attendance list of this event on facebook (TURTLE FOUNDATION PARTY 2009), or email Joana at hancock@turtle-foundation.org.
If you can not attend, please still consider to help us in this cause, by donating funds or material for this beach or joining our adoption program!
